It's getting hot!

Hey everyone! The weeks just seem to go by faster and yet take forever at the same time. Time has no concept anymore. I just can't remember things anymore.

We are doing really good. We finally found a boy named Royce at home. He is a funny kid (prefers cooking to camping) and is pretty excited about learning about the chruch. His mom is LA.So we got him started on reading the book of mormon and read 1 nefi 1-3 with him and left him with the cliff hanger as to what was going to be happening. Hahaha!

We are teaching a guy named Sean who is having a hard time letting go of a miscarriage his fiancee had last december. He looks to it as murder and that god is punishing him for his past life. so we are working with him on praying to god. We brought a member with us, and he took over the lesson entirely. Annoying! Normally, we like to talk to the members before we go and teach, to prep them and invite them to do something. But 2 minutes after 3 he called us and asked us were we were and why we weren't in the apartment where he was. Sigh. Silly members. It isn't the same way as you did your mission 40 years ago! we taught the tree of life last time and once the member heard that phrase, decided to jump all over that. He even had me draw it out for him. Sigh. We were going to go in and teach the Plan of Salvation (pretty important) but no. The last 10 minutes we had before we had to leave he asked us if we wanted to teach that. All three of us were not happy. He is officially uninvited.

To save on miles, we take some time and ride the bikes, or walk, so that has been fun. Sister tanner who has been on bikes was so dang fast, and i was weezing to keep up with her (think of the wolf on sword and the stone). But i did (and was compilmented for it, seeing as her last companion, sister withers, couldn't) and so that was fun. That day, sister Dewitt was on exchanges (gone) and we had a lot of spanish lessons. So i talked a lot. Didn't help my throat at all. But we had an amazing lesson in a members home with Nidia and Saul. I gave the Restoration lesson (alone) and Nidia and the member gave beautiful testimonies when prompted.

The otehr day, sister dewitt and I went and taught a 8 year old we are getting ready to be baptized. And he is a genious. He told us that testimony comes from the word test, and that you have to have a test, like in school, in order to get a testamony.  yes, that is what it is. amazing kid.

We had district meeting as a zone in preparation for the blitz training that we are getting. I have no idea what it is but i think it is going to help us learn how to plan more effectivly. So as a district we talked about how important the Book of Mormon is in our teaching. Afterwards, we went out for pizza, as a zone. oh goodness, that place got good business that day. Elders...

We did some service for our ward mission leader in one of the wards,. Some of the sisters from a long time a go has started painting the kitchen but had never gotten it finished. So sister Tanner and I went and finished painting the kitchen. It looks pretty good and finished. Nothing like a finished kitchen.

Last Friday was sister Valentino's birthday! So we had a surprise party for her. We had a lot of balloons and hid and yelled surprise! and all that fun jazz. Bro Pretsman (her hubby) had a blast helping us plan it all. Some of her friends came and so we had a fun time talked and helping her feel loved. She does so much for us.

But last saturday, we had a baptism! Nidia has been meeting with missionaries for over a year and finally did it! She is such and example to her family. She is working on explaining things to her father in law and working on her husband. Elder Isom, the elder that found her, was able to baptize her and get the ball rolling on that. I played the piano (to everyones surprise, i can play the piano) and the other sisters and Juantio sang. It was pretty good. Nidia is well on her way and so that is pretty cool. Saul said that he wanted to be baptized (like actually made the decision) and so he is looking forward to that. he got his old job back on the condition that he wouldn't have to work every sunday. And he wants to be able to baptize the kids when they get old enough. He talked to his mom who has been a member for 2 years (in mexico) and talked to Saul and i guess what she said convinced him. So that is awesome! Nidia is just pushing along her family. Guadalupe (sauls father that lives with them) is being anoying, but sister Nava is working on him. We just sic the members on them now. :)

Otherwise, on the companionship side, things reached a climax. I am so tired of having tired companions (ones that are going home and jsut can't work. or stop). and being in trios. I can't balance 3 people's needs and wants. I had to go and get a blessing from Elder White (love that man) and we had a talk. Some things were resolved and other things really can't be changed. I guess that's good...

Oh, and our car got egged, again.

And that's my week! I hope you all have a lovely week!

Love,
emily
