Here's what she writes:
"So the district is finally coming together. i think that we are becoming a closer 'family' unit. Sadly, Elders McLellan and Lane (aka McLane) are leaving in a week for Peru. They add the most joy into our district family. McLellan loves to be funny. And its a good kind of funny as well. He is so good at making everyone laugh and not putting any one down. elder lane just feeds off of him. of course, they are like a foot in hight difference so its hilarious to watch them. I am proud to annouce that i can split an apple in half. Elder Lane taught me. :D
the hermanas are getting better. We have taken some time to get to know each other. Each of us come from a different background and yet we all manage to appear to be stable in life. hermana hale has had a rough childhood with not so great parents but she is as optimistic and determined as can be. Mckenna has a brother with a disability and has moved around (her dad is involved in institute) a bit and yet she is so kind and caring. awesome peeps.
every morning we go to a new workout class. Mondays is step. Tuesdays is yoga. Wednesdays is something strenuous. Thursdays is pilates. Friday is kickboxing. and Saturday is toning. i hurt just so ya''ll know. But alas, it is good, because when we work out in the mornings, we take our hour of gym time and take a shower when there are no lines. see, i got a system...
We also had to opportunity to speak to 2 investigators. the first one, Olga, has been taught by the old district 49E (they are the ones waiting for their visas to Mexico). Dela Cruz thought it would be the perfect opportunity for us. he assigned us to go in as companion ships and to get to know her a bit, to practice our Spanish. She doesn't speak English. Before anyone goes in, dela cruz tells me that he wants me to ask her if she is a member of the church. But he told me not to come out and just ask it. i told him that I did have tact and rolled my eyes at him. he just laughed. So the hermanas and i went in and we learned a little about her. to be honest, i really wasn't nervous in the situation either. after a while i asked if she loved the other elders of old 49e. she said she did and then i asked if she was a member like they were. she said no and the first thing that came into my head and out of my mouth before I could think was, why not? yeah, great tact. she then replied that she needed to learn more and loved the way she felt.
she came back the next day, and we went in and shared a scripture with her about how the HG tells us what we need to do (she had red 2 Nephi 31). after all the other elders talked to her the old 49E went in and testified of the restoration and then committed her to baptism. Booya! so they were stoked about that.
The 2nd investigator was learning English and so we were able to speak in English. we had the opportunity to learn about her and found out that she was going to the morning session of conference. so we shared Amos 3:7 with her and that was awesome. we have yet to see what she thought about it. i loved the talks about prophets in conference. They were directed to her, fosho. ("For sure" for those who don't know)
We had our service project this week, we get to clean building 4M. So we went outside and cleaned the sidewalks. McKenna passed me the putty knife to clean out the cracks in the side walk because i was the "closest to the ground." thanks. I feel the love. :)
conference was awesome. i was able to spend the whole time with the district and pretty much the zone. i could hear dad in my head saying "right!" and pointing to us when Lawrence was talking about raising teenagers. But really, I loved elder packards (It was actually Ballard's) talk about artificial lures. I can't wait for an ensign!
